Don’t let a little rain ruin the magic!

If you’ve been to Florida, you know how fast the weather can flip from sunshine to downpour. A rainy day at Disney’s Magic Kingdom might sound like a disaster, but I promise—it can actually turn into one of the BEST days of your trip!
We’ll be covering rainy day tips for each Disney park in this series, but first up: Magic Kingdom
Pack Smart
Before you even get to the parks, be ready for those sneaky showers:
Pack ponchos for everyone (buy them cheap before you go!).
Bring a small, compact umbrella.
Wear waterproof shoes or sandals that dry fast. Or have a pair of dry socks to.
And for my fellow stroller moms… this one’s for you:
Protect Your Stroller in the Rain
You do not want to come back to a soaked stroller. Here’s what I always recommend:
Bring a stroller rain cover (Amazon has tons of inexpensive options).
If you forget it, an extra poncho works in a pinch.
Keep your items in the stroller's basket in a waterproof bag.
Your future self will thank you!
Head for the Indoor Rides
Magic Kingdom has tons of indoor attractions where you can stay dry and keep the fun going:
Pirates of the Caribbean
Haunted Mansion
“it’s a small world”
Space Mountain
Mickey’s PhilharMagic
Carousel of Progress
Monsters Inc. Laugh Floor
Rainy weather is the perfect excuse to hit the classics!
Explore the Shops
Main Street, U.S.A. is a hidden gem on rainy days. All the shops are connected, so you can browse (and stay dry) for as long as you like. It’s also a great time to grab souvenirs.
PRO TIP: The best route is to enter at Casey's Corner, you can walk through several stores without having to go outside.
Take Advantage of Shorter Lines
Light rain scares some people away, which means YOU get shorter wait times. So grab your poncho, embrace the drizzle, and enjoy more rides with fewer crowds!
Watch for the Rainy Day Cavalcade
If you’re extra lucky, you might catch the Rainy Day Character Cavalcade. It’s a special, adorable mini-parade you won’t see on sunny days.
Total bucket list moment? Absolutely.
Take a Midday Break
If you really need a breather, hop on the Monorail and visit one of the nearby resorts:
Disney’s Contemporary Resort
Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort
Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa
Grab a coffee, explore the lobbies, or even squeeze in a snack break while the storm passes.
Final Tip: Don’t Cancel Your Plans
Some of my favorite Disney memories were made on rainy days. The photos are cute, the crowds are thinner, and the fun never stops.
Just adjust your plans, stay flexible, and embrace the adventure!
