Planning a trip to Universal Orlando with kids? From height checks to snack breaks, it’s a whole different kind of theme park hustle — and I’m here to help make it easier. These Universal Orlando tips are packed with real advice for family travel — especially if you’re bringing toddlers or younger children. I’ll cover the best places to stay, what to ride (and what to skip), and how to keep the day fun and meltdown-free.

1. Know the Park Layout

Universal Orlando is made up of four parks: Universal Studios Florida, Islands of Adventure, Volcano Bay, and Epic Universe (opening May 22, 2025). Knowing what’s in each park helps you choose the best one(s) for your kids’ ages and interests.

2. Check the Height Requirements

Before you go, check the height requirements for major rides using Universal’s app or website. It saves time and tears — and helps you plan fun alternatives for little ones who aren’t quite tall enough yet.

3. Use Child Swap (It’s a Game Changer)

Child Swap lets one adult ride while the other waits with the kid, then swap without standing in line again. It’s a major sanity-saver for families with big kids and littles in the mix.

4. Consider Staying On-Site

Universal’s on-site hotels offer perks like Early Park Admission, free Express Passes (at Premier resorts), and family-friendly suites. Bonus: a midday pool break can turn a grumpy toddler’s day around.

5. Bring a Stroller (Even for Bigger Kids)

You’ll walk a lot — even older kids may need a break. Bring your own stroller or rent one, and keep essentials like snacks and sunscreen within reach.

6. Cool-Off & Play Zones

Universal has splash pads, shaded playgrounds, and indoor shows that double as downtime spots. Use them to rest, snack, and beat the Florida heat.

7. Keep It Flexible

Plan loosely, include breaks, and be okay with heading out early. The goal is to make memories — not check off every ride.
